Abstract

This study had the general aim of exploring the behavior of high school students with respect to the use of social networks. We used the Social Network Addiction Questionnaire by Escurra & Salas (2014), using three dimensions proposed by these authors: obsession, lack of personal control and excessive use of social networks. The sample consisted of 225 high school students from first to fourth grade, enrolled in a private school and a public school in the city of Valdivia, Chile. The results show low levels in the three indicators evaluated. It is concluded that students in the private school have a higher level of social network use compared to those who study in the public school.
