Abstract
This paper presents a performance comparison between the well-known proportional-integral regulator based on pulse-width-modulation (PWM) and the novel model-free predictive control for the current regulation of a three-phase two-level voltage-source inverter. Recently, model-free predictive control has been proposed to provide an accurate prediction of the current control without previous knowledge of the physical system. This approach is realized with a recursive least squares algorithm to identify the parameters of an auto-regressive with exogenous input model. Simulated results verify the high performance of model-free predictive control compared to the linear regulator under model parameter mismatch.
