Abstract

This work reviews the current state of BIM, identifying the advantages and disadvantages of using BIM construction information modeling in the areas of Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC). BIM case studies are studied at an international and national level, determining the main strategic, business, and operational problems that the methodology has. A discussion section suggests that the infrastructure design should include costs, benefits, and digital transformation processes, to face challenges in BIM adoption. Conclusions and possible future lines of research are delivered.
