Hybrid Shear-Wall System For The Construction of Solid-Wood Buildings in Seismic Zones
Abstract
The invention relates to a hybrid shear-wall system for the construction of solid-wood buildings having more than two floors, in seismic zones, which has ductile behaviour and reduced toppling effect against a lateral load caused by natural destructive events, such as earthquakes or strong winds. The shear-wall system comprises an interior frame with articulated nodes for connecting between columns and beams, exterior solid-wood panels being connected to the frame on both opposite faces by means of individual energy-dissipating connectors, wherein the frame comprises post-tensioned selfcentring means, which, together with the articulated nodes, the exterior solid-wood panels and the connectors, act jointly as a unit and allow the shear wall to behave in a ductile manner and with reduced toppling effect against a high lateral load.
