Abstract

The following text is organized in order to show how faculty members mean and give senses to the links in the context of their work in the contemporary university. First, the referential framework is argued, showing how emotions cannot be understood as something merely individual, but that it is necessary to understand them socially and historically. Then, it is stated how the concept of “linking” has been explained by authors in the framework of research on teachers. The sample consists of seven interviews with faculty members of two universities of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH), performing an analysis utilizing the Nuclei of Significance me-thodology.
