RKKY interaction between metallic clusters

Abstract
We present a detailed comparison of a discrete and a continuum treatment of the RKKY interaction between a spherical cluster and a localized spin. We show that, for short distances between the center of the cluster and the localized spin, there are considerable differences between these models.
