Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze the trajectory of the concept champurria elaborated by Daniela Catrileo in her essay Sutura de las aguas (2024). This analysis concentrates, above all, on two fields of attention. On the one hand, it seeks to insert the author's reflections within a constellation of metaphors and concepts within Latin American and Caribbean thought, through which cultural contact under conditions of coloniality has been theorized. On the other hand, we examine how fabulation operates in the gaze offered by Catrileo in his essay with respect to the champurria and how, in turn, this gaze is directed towards the formulation of a micro-politics of the impure, through the elaboration of aesthetic and political artifacts that stand as resistance and argument against the ferocious onslaught of microfascisms today. Far from pretending to “situate” Catrileo's reading in a specific theoretical framework, this analysis seeks to propitiate points of encounter and disagreement that make it possible to understand the singularity of the concept, that is, its differential, relational and productive condition, in order to sustain a dialogue with the proposal of fluctuation that expressively runs through the bet on a speculative essay. © 2025 University Library System, University of Pittsburgh.
