Abstract

We present the process and results of a research-creation experience carried out by the Laboratory in the Trail of Horror and Oblivion on the effects of the 1973 coup d'& eacute;tat on the university community of the University of Santiago de Chile. Using the resource of speculative fiction, the laboratory critically addressed institutionalized memory to propose alternatives for approaching the traumatic event, historical memory, and its current reverberations. To this end, artistic mediation actions were tried through which a politics of memory "from below" was outlined, using the destituent force of the critical imagination. As a corollary, the lessons learned are outlined, as well as new questions that will serve for subsequent research experiences using this approach.
