On the Synthetic Measurement of the Dispersion Diagram of Glide Symmetric Waveguides

Abstract

A strategy based on the synthetic technique for the determination of the wavenumber dispersion diagram of modes in waveguides with glide symmetry is presented. The technique reconstructs the modal dispersion diagram from a number of resonance frequencies of a cavity made from the same guiding structure. The number of resonances required for periodic structures with glide symmetry is almost double of that for the nonglide case and the reason is here discussed, together with other issues related to the actual number of resonances that a cavity exhibits due to losses, excitation and cavity terminations. The proposed modification of the method is validated by using both simulations and experimental results.
