Abstract

1-n-Alkyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolones were synthesized. They have a 4-benzoyl-5-hydroxypyrazole structure in chloroform solutions. From these ketones no Schiff bases could be obtained. 1-n-Alkyl-3-methyl-4-acetyl-5-pyrazolones did afford imines. In chloroform solution these imines exist as enaminic tautomers with a carbonyl group at C-5.
