Analysis of the Territorial Distribution of Complaints and Their Impact on School Coexistence: A Comparative Study in Chile
Abstract
School coexistence serves as a framework for addressing conflicts that arise in educational institutions, such as exclusion, school rejection, and violence. The objective of this study is to analyze the distribution of such incidents recorded in the Chilean education system from 2019 to 2023. The research adopts a quantitative approach, employing a cross-sectional design using descriptive and inferential techniques. Data were obtained from the website of the Superintendency of Education. Descriptive analyses were conducted by year, type of complaint, and region, in addition to an ANOVA analysis with Tukey's post hoc test to identify significant differences between regions. The results confirm that the fourth quarter has the highest number of complaints and that school social interaction is the most frequently reported issue. A significant increase in complaints is observed during the years 2022 and 2023 (post-pandemic). When comparing the number of complaints by region, the capital of Chile has the highest number of complaints. Meanwhile, the regions with the fewest reported cases are those in the northern zone (Arica, Tarapaca). These findings highlight significant regional differences in the reporting processes associated with school interactions in Chile.
