In-situ interfacial engineering of La (OH) 3-MXene nanocomposite heterostructures for high-performance durable supercapacitor applications
Keywords: supercapacitor, La(OH)3-MXene
Abstract
High-performance supercapacitors demand electrode materials that combine high conductivity, abundant redox-active sites, and long-term cycling stability. In present study, La(OH)3-MXene hybrid was prepared via ultrafast microwave-assisted method, ensuring uniform nucleation of La(OH)3 nanoparticles across MXene sheets. This approach effectively suppresses restacking and enhances ion transport pathways. Structural analyses (X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller method) confirm the formation of a hierarchical hybrid structure with a significantly improved surface area (∼154 m2/g). Electrochemical evaluation reveals a specific capacitance (SC) of 946 F/g, excellent rate capability, and low internal resistance. The electrode retained ∼87% capacitance after 10000 cycles with ∼98% coulombic efficiency. An assembled asymmetric device further exhibits an energy density of 43.33 Wh/kg and a power density of 1200 W/kg, outperforming pristine MXene and La(OH)3 electrodes.
