Abstract

The organic compounds containing functional groups like ketone(saturated, unsaturated), alcohol (primary, secondary, tertiary), epoxideetc. undergo rearrangement with sulfuric acid, yielding unexpectedproducts. Alkyl groups attached to the aromatic ring migrate with sulfuric acid from one position to another. Several N-phenyl-hydroxyaminesrearrange with sulfuric acid to amino phenols. The oximes with sulfuricacid furnish substituted amides and lactams.
