Abstract

A life cycle inventory analysis for elemental chlorine-free bleached kraft cellulose production using Chilean pine and eucalypt wood, with view to environmental management is presented. The system boundaries extend from nursery and planting, through forest management and harvesting, and to industrial processing. The requirements of natural resources, chemicals, energy, and releases of liquid, gas, and solid wastes are estimated along the life cycle, providing a model for prediction purposes.
