Abstract

Different studies reveal that local anesthesia is not regularly used for surgical decompression of the most common entrapment neuropathy, the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. In this study we review the different anesthetic techniques used for and our experience with 732 interventions related with the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in a 51/2 years; period the last 428 cases were carried out with local anesthesia. We conclude that local anesthesia without upper arm tourniquet control and vasoconstrictor use is safe, effective and well tolerated.
