Abstract

Essential oil of the secondary wood of Santalum fernandezianum, an extinct tree of the Juan Fernández Islands was analyzed by GLC-MS. ?-santalol (1) and ?-santalen (2) were isolated, the latter is responsible for the fragrance of the wood and exhibits various biological activities.
