Abstract

This work proposes a new method to assess the reliability contribution of the generation and transmission stages. It introduces a new criterion named `minimal functional curtailment' to fine-tune the disaggregation between the stages. The criterion is based on a cooperative game that the generation and transmission agents must jointly play to provide electricity supply to the customers connected to the system. The method is applied to the main Chilean interconnected system. Its value under open access schemes is discussed.
