Abstract

A new halogenated sesquiterpene has been isolated, together with five known compounds, from the red alga Laurencia claviformis, a species endemic to Easter Island. The structures were elucidated based on spectral analysis. The effect of these compounds on the inhibition of cytokinesis in the sea urchin Tetrapygus niger embryos was studied.
