Sharpening of the field phase distribution from interaction with an atomic system

Abstract

We study an atomic system interacting with a quantized cavity field. Taking initially the field in an intense number state and the atomic system in a state with well-defined phase, we show that the atomic phase is transferred to the field in the course of the interaction. © 1999 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
