Dynamics of electro-optical switching in the antiferroelectric B2 phase of an achiral bent-core shape compound

Abstract

A study was performed on the dynamics of electro-optical switching in the antiferroelectric (AF) B2 phase of an achiral bent-core shape compound. The two types of stripe domains with opposite handedness and simultaneous clock and anticlock motion of the director in the neighboring domains were observed. It was found that the electro-optical response was observed below the AF-ferroelectric (F) threshold.
