Abstract

The occurrence of a ischemic Perioperative stroke is a infrequent fact in general surgery (0.08 % - 0.4 OJo). existing surgeries with major risk of presenting this avení, as the carotids procedures, cardiac and vascular surgeries, with a frequency from 2.2 to 5.2 %. It associates with high morbidity and to a mortality that fluctuates among 16 to 46 %. The vascular territory most frequently affected is the middle cerebral artery. Between the factors of risk to present this pathology, stands out previous cerebrovascular disease, vascular peripheral disease and hypertension.
