Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyse the antecedents and challenges presented to the didactics of geography after the UNESCO's declaration of the education's decade of sustentability 2005-2014. This is an opportunity for the didactics of geography to contribute in the long run building of a society based on solidarity and equity. A society where the today's youngsters have enough knowledge, good judgement and attitudes to take appropriate decisions regarding the geographical space.
