Abstract

In order to analyze the durability of the different types of stickers used in the kiln dry process, a sample of sticks was studied by type of cut, radial or tangential. The behavior of these sticks submissive to loads was evaluated and its durability was observed, considering its yield according to type of cut and defects by type of sticks and position within the kiln drying. It was observed that the position of the stacked lumber is not determining in the loss of sticks, the presence of defects and the unstacking system was the most important factor. It was determined that sticker with tangential cut without defects gives better yields, and poorest the radial cut. © 2007 Universidad del Bío-Bío.
