Luis Ladron de Guevara: Towards aesthetics production Luis Ladrón de Guevara: Hacia una estética de la producción
Abstract
With more than half a century dedicated without interruption to producing photographic recordings of diversity in productive labor in countless public and private institutions in Chile, Luis Ladron de Guevara has become the highest reference when studying the relationship between photography, industry and production. The exponent of an exceptional photographic technique acquired while under the influence of Antonio Quintana and gifted with a refined aesthetic sensibility, Ladron de Guevara reconciles in each of his works utilitarian aims - which his photography both affords and requires - while also exploring new and significant fields in the world of production which naturally flourish out of his artistic vision. While acknowledging his position as one of the most prominent exponents of this photographic genre in the XX century, we aim in the following lines to explore the resources, persistence and photographic obsessions which distinguish the work of Ladron de Guevara in historical perspective, permitting us to link his work to aesthetics in production.
