Abstract

Experimental results on the extraction of several agricultural byproducts using conventional solvents are presented and discussed. The effects of the main process variables (including solvent polarity, liquid to solid ratio, temperature, time) on the yields and antioxidant activity have been studied for each one. Enzyme-aided aqueous extraction of waste vegetable materials with the aim of improving the polyphenols extraction performance was optimized. Additionally, studies regarding the effect of mechanical pulsation are presented.
