Abstract

In order to describe and analyze the relations between father attachment patterns and father-first child interaction patterns, a crosseccional correlation study was implemented in Chile. The sample had 40 dyads father-babies (3-9 month) in nuclear families from low and middle socio-economic level. The fathers were evaluated with Attachment Questionnaire (CaMir). To measure the dyads interaction style, it was adopted the Care-Index, that allows to evaluate the quality of the father-baby interaction. The results indicate a significant correlation between the father sensibility and the baby cooperation, concluding that the baby classification is significantly associated with the father classification, although, the relation between the father attachment patterns and the interaction patterns did no represent significant results in terms of statistics. © 2009 Fundación AIGLÉ.
