Abstract

There are many human activities for which information about the geographical location where they take place is of paramount importance. In the last years there has been increasing interest in the combination of Computer Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW) and geographical information. In this paper we analyze the concepts and elements of CSCW that are most relevant to geocollaboration. We define a model facilitating the design of shared artifacts capable to build shared awareness of the geographical context. The paper also describes two case studies using the model to design geocollaborative applications. © 2009 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.
