Abstract

The social world has changed fundamentally since 1989. They had an "end of history" and the global spread of Western institutions expected. Instead at the multicentric world of the past has returned, in the societies of the global South also play a role. Using concrete regional and country examples from Africa, Asia and Latin America asks the band after the usefulness of our theoretical vocabulary, according to reasonable categories for describing long-term and fundamental social changes and thus also the possibly time and Bust-lich limited range of dominant globalization discourses.
