Abstract

The following paper Intends to observe in what way the difference discourses are represented through the communication media; considering the intercultural studies carried out from the perspective of the communication towards a social change in journalism. Therefore, the object of study of this research is intercultural communication, intercultural journalism and the representation that the media show of other cultures. In order to obtain the aforementioned, examples of the analysis of news production published in the Chilean press will be presented. Those pieces of news will come from two of the major newspapers of the country: La Tercera belonging to Consorcio Periodístico de Chile S.A (Copesa) and El Mercurio which is part of the conglomerate El Mercurio Sociedad Anónima Periodística (El Mercurio S.A.P.).
