This paper analyses the archaic occupation of Andean environments in south central Chile based on archaeological fieldwork in Marifilo-1 settlement (lake district of Chile). The preliminary results suggest a continuous occupation since Early Archaic to Formative periods by human communities, that developed an economic strategy, strongly adapted to temperate forests, with a marked tradition
