Abstract

These extended abstracts contain selected contributions from the minisymposium "Theoretical and numerical modeling of systems with long range interactions" devoted to discuss some models related to nonlinearity and quasistationarity of systems of recent focus. Considerable attention has been recently paid to properties of physical systems with long range interactions. In this sense, we consider the interactions through a typical power-law decay; for instance, Coulomb forces are the most remarkable example and many of their properties remain misunderstood. In general, long range interactions lead to some interesting phenomena not observed in systems with short-range interactions. One of this prominent properties is the existence of the quasi-stationary states where the system remains often trapped before relaxing towards equilibrium having lifetime that grow algebraically with the size of the system.
