Abstract

The present work shows an application of a combustion monitoring and control system, by means of optical analysis of flames and his application to a ladle furnace in the steel industry. The experimental results show a good correlation between the temperature calculated from the flame spectrum and the measured temperature in the refractory by means of a pyrometer. The application of an optimization algorithm based on the conjugated gradient, applied to the flame temperature signal and using the fan speed as the controlling parameter, it presents an increase of 10% in the temperature with a consistent reduction in the processing times. Finally, the application of a driver has actuator in the system it allows a 80% of reduction in the electricity consumption by the fan motor.
