Abstract

This work constitutes a reflection upon the main conceptions of poverty that prevail in Latin America, its relation to the ways in which poverty is measured as well as to the conception of poor people as a focalized group where social politics are heading for. The purpose is to explore the relation between the concept of poverty and therefore the concept of poor subject or poor object that is present in social politics and the major State and market inherence on them taking into account citizenship and rights exercise. This article also deals with the concepts of absolute and relative poverty in order to end up with the conceptions of Amartya Sen and Manfred Max-Neef.
