Padre Zeus, que reinas desde el Ida

Abstract

Karl Reinhardt's assertion that there is an abnormal situation on mount Olympus between books 8 & 19 of the Iliad seems to oppose the fact that there are invocations addressed to Zeus as a ruler on mount Ida in books 3, 7, and 24, i.e., outside the parenthesis proposed by Reinhardt. For Zeus is on mount Ida between books 8 & 19, but not before or after. This article aims to answer how the invocations and Reinhardt's assertion interact and how we can understand this apparent contradiction in the homeric text, analysing carefully the invocations and the features proposed by Reinhardt's assertion in order to make evident their concordance.
