Family as a Social System: Conjugality and Parenthood
Keywords: family, love, kinship, intimacy, social systems theory
Abstract
This article discusses the concept of family within the framework of social systems theory. Based on critical analyses of some authors who follow this theoretical tradition, it is proposed a concept of modern family as a functionally differentiated system. After this theoretical decision, the communication of intimacy is defined as a characteristic of family and the distinction of relatives as a base code of the system.
