Characterization of trabecular bone morphology by isolation and construction of cubic models using computerized microtomography
Abstract
MicroCT analysis is frequently used to study the ultrastructure of the trabecular bone. However, there is an enormous dispersion on the methods applied for its assessment, both in terms of parameters and in terms of a morphological definition of its structural components. We propose a standardized methodology for both a quantitative and a qualitative analysis of the bone quality by ways of comparing the morphology of the trabeculae.
