Abordaje del Trastorno por Déficit de Atención con Hiperactividad en contextos educativos: una revisión bibliográfica

Abstract

Background: Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity (ADHD) affects a large number of children from preschool through adulthood. Its main symptoms are inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity, which have a neurobiological origin. Objective: To contribute to ADHD psycho educational approach of professionals working in education. Methods: A review of the EBSCO and Scielo databases, looking for articles published in the years 2005 to 2010, both in English and Spanish. Conclusions: The child with the disorder has difficulties with control their attention and behavior alone, is why we first need an accurate diagnosis to initiate multidisciplinary treatment to help alleviate symptoms. It is also essential that parents and teachers presenting positive and realistic expectations about the results of interventions carried out with these children, because changes are not automatic, but rather gradual.
