Abstract

 Although psychosocial vulnerability and school failure go hand in hand, there are children and young people who achieve a successful school adjustment. The traditional approach on this issue has been to study risk factors and protective factors from the perspective of resilience, but the construction process of adaptation has been less studied. In this paper, we investigate that process through four life stories. We found that the construction process is facilitated by the transformation of the difficulty into challenge and by the opportunity to build close ties with significant others, eventually in the school context, among others
