Abstract
The buildings of the city of Valparaiso are in permanent risk due to the high seismicity of the central zone of Chile. In this study the seismic vulnerability of two centennial buildings of this city, which have already been subjected to the Chilean subduction earthquakes of 1906 (Ms= 8.2) and 1985 (Ms= 7.8) undamaged, is ana-lyzed. With this purpose simplified methods, like the First Level methods proposed by Meli and Lourenço and Roque, and the Second Level methods, proposed by G.N.D.T. and Gallegos, are used.
