Productividad Científica del Grupo de Trabajo 2 de la IADR-Chile. Período 2000-2009.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to identify and analyze the scientific productivity of IADR-Chilean Division Group 2, during the last ten years. Methods: A retrospective quantitative study of the scientific research presented in Group 2 of the Chilean IADR, during the period 2000-2009, was carried out. Data was obtained from IADR annual meeting books, were abstracts of scientific Group 2 were collected and separated by year, area of knowledge, researchers’ economical support and university. Results: From 1031 abstracts presented in Chilean IADR, n=306 (29.68%) belonged to Group 2. The 8otal of scientists that participated in Group 2: n=789. Abstracts were separated by area: Cariology n=43 (14.05%), Biomaterials n=51 (16.67%), Operative Dentistry n=125 (40.85%), Mineralized Tissues n=23 (7.52%) and Pulp Biology n=64 (20.91%). Group 2 abstracts separated by researcher´s Universities were; Chilean Universities n=11, [Chile n=149 (47.3%); U Andrés Bello 12,7% (n=40), U. Concepción and U Mayor 7,3% (n=23), U. Talca 6,98% (n=22), U. Finis Terrae 6,67% (n=21), U. Valparaíso 6,03%(n=19%), U. del Desarrollo and U. de la Frontera 1,59% (n=5), U. los Andes 0,95% (n=3), U. Austral and Universidad del Bosque 0,63% (n=2) and U. Católica República Dominicana 0,32% (n=1) . Number of abstracts presented by researcher: 1:n=578(73,26%); 2: n=124(15,72%); 3:n=34(4,31%); 4:n=26(3,3%); 5:n=17(2,15%) and more than 5 n=10(1,27%). 79,08% of studies were done without economical support. Conclusions: During the last ten years it has been observed that there is a continually increase in the productivity of Chilean IADR Group 2 and others research groups (p=0,000). This productivity has been supported by a small group of Universities. Universidad de Chile, Operative Dentistry and Pulpar Biology lead group two productivity. To increase the scientific production of Group 2, it is necessary to provide additional support for those areas of lower productivity.
