Abstract

Cyphomandra betacea axillary buds regenerated plantlets easily in approximately 90% using MS basal medium and phytohormones NAA, BA, and GA3 all in concentration 0,2 mg/l. Omitting GA3, lowering NAA to 0.02 and adding Zeatin 2,5 mg/l instead BA, resulted in 70% explants with multiple shoots but no roots. SHoots formed easily from leaf explants when only TDZ was used as citokinin. Leaf sections also showed morphogenic responses, formin abundant shoots. The incorporation of TDZ (5 and 10 mg/l) promoted this response in the absence or presence of IAA (1 mg/l).
