Abstract

Because of the importance of this bivalve for fishermen Craftsmanship and the notable lack of information about the Basic biology of this species, would greatly favor the Development of studies to obtain information from their Life history, distribution, behavior, ecology, fishery and Genetics to develop management and conservation strategies (Allendorf & Ryman, 1987, Ayala & Kiger, 1984, Castile, 1988, Defeo Et al., 1993; Frankham et al., 2002; Gallardo & Carrasco, 1996; Guiñez et al., 1986; Guiñez et al., 1992; Hartl, 1988; Koehn & Gaffney, 1984). The legal aspects that regulate the pink clam fishery in Our country are established in the General Law of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Law No. 18,892 of 1989 and its amendments). The resource is under full exploitation status from Of the year 1999 (Res. Ex. 2617-99) between regions I to XI.
