Abstract

This research work seeks to link business behavior with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) through an agricultural entrepreneur of the Araucanía region, Chile. It consists of a series of life stories based on in-depth interviews with the entrepreneur Hilda Fernández Fernández (HFF) who was chosen as a qualified informant of business activity in the area. Her pioneering work in CSR is demonstrated through the following actions: 1) the building of irrigation channels in her land show her concern for the environment and the efficient use of water; (2) the close relationship she maintained with their employees, considering them as partners; (3) the empowerment she gave her employees, making them participate in training courses by the State of Chile.
