Streptococcus pneumoniae e inmunidad innata
Keywords: pneumococcal pneumonia, innate immunity, streptococcus pneumoniae, pattern recognition receptors.
Abstract
Streptococcus pneumoniae is an important pathogen of humans that causes significant morbidity and mortality mainly in the extreme ages of life. It has several virulence factors that tested the immunity of the host. The innate immune system is the first line of defense to deal with this pathogen being an early and non-specific response. The control of the disease will depend on the activation of the innate immunity in first instance and the development of a proper specific immunity against the pathogen. In this article we make an update of the innate immunity against this pathogen.
