Organogenesis and regeneration of some andean fruit species

Abstract
Some little-known Andean fruit species growing in sub-tropical areas are of potential economic importance, due to fruit quality, flavor and vitamin content. Selection and regeneration of elite clone are required to established standard and highly productive plantations, essential to open new markets. Assays to evaluate the in vitro regeneration potential of three promising Andean species, Annona Cherimola (cherimoya), Solanum muricatum (pepino) and Cyphomandra betacea (tamarillo, tree tomato), were carried out in our laboratory with satisfactory results.
