Abstract

The objectives addressed in this research are focused on identifying the profile of the student who leaves the teaching process during professional technical secondary education. The design of the research is descriptive with a qualitative methodological approach, it was carried out in two schools located in Santiago de Chile and the youngsters who studied 3º and 4º TP were surveyed. In addition to two in-depth interviews with two experts in the field. Inquiries and analysis of results allowed to detect the distinctive traits of students who leave the professional technical education system, thereby creating a profile of the deserter student of this educational system, in order to support the implementation of an inclusive and retentive educational policy. The study was approached from the Vincet Tinto model analysis. Keywords: deserter student; Availability for learning; professional education; retention
