Abstract

A new halo planetary nebula at lII = 6°165 and bII = -41°957 is presented. The authors have estimated a lower limit distance to the galactic plane |z| ≥ 1.9 kpc which corresponds to d ≥ 2.8 kpc. Nevertheless the authors consider that the most probable distance is d ≅ 7.7 kpc and |z| ≅ 5.1 kpc. Preliminary results, based on spectrophotometric data obtained for the nebula, indicate an electron temperature T(O III) = 15000±1500K, and the chemical abundances, relative to log H = 12.00, are log He = 10.96±0.05, log O = 8.1±0.1, log Ne = 7.5±0.2 and log Ar = 5.8±0.2. This planetary nebula has a chemical composition comparable to the SMC H II regions and very similar to the halo planetary nebula DDDM-1.
