Abstract

Many countries involved in territorial ethnic or civilizational disputes are keen to obliterate their rivals Huntington dixit. The recent eruption of a conflict with intra-Sunni sectarian components between Saudi Arabia supported by several Gulf countries and Qatar, also Sunni and backed by Turkey, Pakistan and the Shii Iran confirms the complexity of the regional situation configuring an illustrative case although limited to its regional nature of what is conceptualized as the trap of Thucydides.
