Abstract

The effect of Pt (0,25-1%) and CeO2 (15%) addition on the physicochemical properties of Ni/Al2O3 catalyst on the partial oxidation of methane was studied. Monometallic and bimetallic Pt-Ni catalysts supported on CeO2/Al2O3 were synthesized. The catalysts were characterized by SBET, XRF, TPR, CO chemisorption and FTIR spectroscopy of adsorbed CO. The TPR profiles showed the incorporation of Pt promoted the formation of NiO, instead of NiAl2O4 and facilitated its reduction to Ni°. The addition of CeO2 increases the metals reducibility. The FTIR-CO spectra revealed that the surface of the bimetallic catalysts is dominated by Pt sites.
