La tafonomía en la interpretación de depósitos humanos en contextos arqueológicos.

Abstract

The studies of biological or physical anthropology are relevant in the interpretation of certain aspects concerning human being as a biocultural unity. Death, a universal phenomenon, and a series of death-related natural and cultural processes have developed subjects of research conceived in the field of archaeology and death anthropology. The characterization of several funeral deposits may reveal responses to many questions. Taphonomy is a science concerned with the interpretation of these deposits. The multiple disciplines involved in taphonomical studies are supported in the determination of elements with natural and anthropic origins, and with intrinsic and extrinsic character impinging on funeral deposits in past societies. The different stages in the conservation of osseous remains, in general, are the basis to all taphonomical characterizations.
